it's a jungle out there

with all the rain we've been getting, you'd think we lived in the jungle. so it is fitting that we've been finding "weeld aminals" outside. first, the "tuuurrl" we rescued from sudden death in the middle of our small-town highway.

then we found a "fuzzy wuzzy" {what are these really called?} as you can tell, Savanna thought it was a new best friend. the poor guy, had to go EVERYWHERE with her. Luckily, I was able to convince her that "fuzzy wuzzy" needed a nap.

sick, sick, sick

daddy's sick. savanna's sick. mommy's getting sick. ugh! luckily, i have found something on tv that peaks my interests. takes me back to a time when i would wake up in my shrine of a bedroom; put on my backpack that paid them tribute; used the notebooks, pens, folders, and fanny-pack adorned with their pictures. i cannot believe it, but yes, new kids on the block are strutting their stuff on vh1. it's hilarious! curiosity has gotten the best of me {not to mention my old obsession} i am in for the long haul. let's just hope the cold medicine isn't too strong and i find myself busting out the dance moves. singing along just can't be helped. . .step by step. oooo baaabey. gonna get to you giiiirrrrl!

new phase?

this morning i was trying to hurry and get out the door so we could meet our friends at the park. savanna is usually soooo excited to leave that i don't even have to ask her to find her shoes, but this morning went a little differently:

me: "Savanna, hurry! get your shoes on, so we can go"

her: "I can't!"

what?!? where did that come from? does she even know what "can't" means? all i could do was just shake my head . . . heaven help me.

six months from now . . .

WE could be here:

Chris was asked if he'd be willing to travel & work for 3-months in AUSTRALIA! S.E.R.I.O.U.S.L.Y! But, he can only go if I can go too. {and if the company will splurge for the extra tickets} I cannot even tell you how happy that would make me to travel to the "down under" during the frigid cold winter here. Cross your fingers!! Please, please, puh-leeze, let this happen!

*secretly, I've had a longing explore Australia since reading Anita Stanfield's books. Okay, so maybe I'm just hoping that Chris picks up that sexy Aussie accent. He'd be like my own Crocodile Dundee--without the knife :)

not your typical morning

Any guesses as to who the unlucky patient was???
SAVANNA!!
Poor girl was born with her mother's luck.
We {Savanna & I} were outside on the deck when I decided to do something productive and take the trash to the garbage can--genius, I know! Savanna was happily riding her bike around & around & around when I headed away. I heard her little "i'm tuming!" from behind. I kept walking. Next, the sound of her bike coming down. the. stairs.

SCREAM!!

She was struggling to get out from under the bike, so I helped her up and brought her inside to assess the damage. She didn't cry for too long, but she did want her daddy! {luckily, it was a day he was home} After a bath, I decided to call the doctor because I couldn't remember "the rules" about falling toddlers. My doctor called back and I was told to take her immediately to the ER.

What?!?

Don't kids fall all the time?

But being the loving mother that I am, I followed the doctor's orders. So after TWO hours, $50 co-pay, lots of stickers, and "flashlights" to the eyes, we returned home for a much needed nap. After nap time she was up & at em' again on the bike. So, no traumatic effects from the fall :)

Oh, and she's much happier AND sleeping better at night. . .too bad she didn't hit her head sooner!

for the nana's and papa's

just some fun little videos and random pictures for the family, far far away, to enjoy.

sorry, the "hopscotch" is crooked. . .i'm technologically challenged. the shoes give her a winning edge

for Savanna, clothing is always optional. if daddy is playing the piano, she is always up for accompanying. watching the two of them put on a performance is always entertaining.

this particular evening, savanna had a bit more energy that needed to be used up before settling down for the night. luckily, a little rhythm and a bouncy bed was just what this mama ordered.

labor day weekend recap

This was by far our most action packed weekend to date this year!

Friday, our friends had a bon fire and we all enjoyed a few {or a lot} of roasted marshmallows, chocolate, gourmet smores. Thanks for hosting Jen & Eric. There's nothing quite like a campfire located next to a play area and clean bathrooms.

(this picture cracks me up for two reasons: first, notice the location of Savanna's marshmallow--she was so proud of her "unroasted" mallow :) second, notice Eric trying to dodge the photo op.)

reliving a little Olympic excitement

Saturday, Chris left early to help a family in our ward move to a new house {yeah! for Maureen}Maureen was nice enough to pass along the old swing set that was no longer needed and I was bossy enough that Chris and Adam brought it home with them. As you can see, it was put to good use immediately.
After naps we ventured over to the Palmer's for some bbq'd goodness and the "unveiling" of the newly installed Coverstar pool cover {good plug eh?} and of course, swimming. It was all sooo-ooo much fun that Savanna got pooped out and fell asleep in front of Elmo. *gasp*

Sunday was the usual--morning chaos, church, naps, etc.

Monday we did some good ol' yard work {or rather Chris did} while Savanna and I went shopping and did some tag sale drive-by's.
